Emergency Evacuation, Medical & Travel Insurance
We strongly recommend that all of our travelers purchase travel insurance. Travel insurance can help cover a wide variety of circumstances that could potentially lead to the cancelation of your trip or unforeseen out-of-pocket expenses, including baggage loss, missed connections, trip interruption, extreme weather, illness or medical emergency (including medical evacuation costs). It can also help protect you in the event of losing non-refundable trip deposits and payments as a result of cancelation or trip interruption. Families traveling together, in particular, can benefit from traveler’s insurance, due to the high investment in the trip and the increased risk of one person’s illness resulting in the entire trip being canceled.
Additionally, most Antarctica cruise operators require emergency medical evacuation ($100,000 minimum) and proof of medical insurance for all passengers. While some operators include this insurance, most do not. Please refer to your booking email for specific requirements related to your vessel.
When purchasing trip insurance, many options are available. One suggested option is Allianz. Allianz provides comprehensive options that include coverage for pre-existing conditions (as long as the policy is purchased within 2 weeks of making the initial deposit on the trip). You can view the details of Allianz’s plans by visiting the Allianz website (if requested, Vaya Adventure’s ACCAM number is F030084).
